CONWAY—The 15th Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office released a second surveillance video Tuesday, from the morning of the Carolina Forest High School shooting-stabbing incident that left one student dead.
In a report released by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division Monday, on October 16, 16-year-old student Trevor Varinecz stabbed Horry County Police Lance Cpl. Marcus Rhodes, the school’s resource officer.
Rhodes then shot and killed Varinecz. Rhodes was cleared of any wrongdoing.
Tuesday’s video shows emergency crews working on Rhodes and Varinecz.
Rhodes is seen talking on a cell phone and walking around with his t-shirt folded over his arms before he is taken away on a stretcher.
One scene shows paramedics wheeling Varinecz out of the room where he was shot during the altercation.
Paramedics are seen trying to perform CPR on Varinecz while the stretcher is in motion.
Officers and investigators with the Horry County Police Department then tape off the entrance to the school’s hallway where the room in which the altercation occurred, is located.
Monday's SLED reports show that a letter was found inside Varinecz's pants during the autopsy. The letter read, "my final words are on my computer,” but News 13 did not get that letter in the reports we received.
