Four Mullins firefighters have been honored with achievement awards.
“All of these individuals exemplify characteristics of service before self. Mullins is very fortunate to have them as members of its fire department,” Mullins Fire Chief Robert Stetson said.
Members of the Mullins Fire Department voted Robert Collins as Volunteer Firefighter of the Year.
Members of the Mullins Fire Department also voted Jimmy Collins as Officer of the Year.
Stetson selected Keith Rowell as Full Time Firefighter of the Year and Billy Herring as Pioneer Firefighter of the Year.
Chief Stetson said the award of Pioneer Firefighter of the Year has only been given out one other time and is an honor to receive.
Herring has been a member of the fire department since 1968. He recently asked to be put back on active duty and serves four hours a day at the Mullins Fire Department.
The awards were presented last Saturday at the Fire Departments Christmas Dinner.
“If you looked up the definition of a firefighter in the dictionary you would see the pictures of any of these four individuals,” Stetson said.
