As the hustle of bustle of holiday shopping continues, so does the holiday shipping.College student Stephanie Azbell is mailing her families' gifts back home to New Hampshire this year."I've got Christmas presents for my parents and my sister and I wanted to make sure it gets there," said Azbell.
Azbell’s packages are just a few of an estimated 35 million packages freight service,Fed Ex says will be sent between now and Christmas.
Gerry Gasper works for the Fed Ex shipping center.“We are seeing an increase from a year ago and that's a very good sign," Gasper said. Shipping center workers said they've prepared for this years increase.“We've put extra drivers on [duty], the corporation has extra planes in the system," said Gasper. And Fed Ex Store Manager, Krissy Devitt, said they've prepared for the holiday rush as well.“If you're here and you want it packed and shipped we'll stay, and we do have overtime hours right now," said Devitt.
Azbell said she's just glad to know her gifts will be home by Christmas "I just want to make sure it gets there just so I don't have to overnight anything, make sure its there in time,” said Azbell. “My mom will sign it and let me know its there and I'll fly home knowing its all there for them to unwrap on Christmas day."
Fed Ex said you can send your items up until December 17th using their ground service.
