»  Comments | Post a Comment

The Olanta Beautification Committee will host the 2009 Olanta Christmas parade and tree-lighting ceremony on Dec. 19.

The parade is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m., with the tree lighting ceremony afterward at the town’s Main Street gazebo.

Nicole Boone and Cecil Chandler from WBTW News13 are scheduled to be the parade’s grand marshals.

The parade will include a golf cart contest, as well. Prizes will be awarded for the best Christmas theme, most original and best all around.

The committee also will hold a contest for the best-decorated yard and business. All winners will be announced during the tree-lighting ceremony.

After the parade, children can visit Santa at the town’s gazebo, tell him their Christmas wishes and have their pictures made with him.

Anyone interested in participating in any of these activities is asked to call Debbie Floyd at (843) 396-9282 for more information.
