Beginning next spring, Spirit Airlines will be offering direct round-trip flights from Myrtle Beach to Atlanta.
Spirit announced this morning at Myrtle Beach International Airport the flights will run from May 1 through November 10.
Spirit says if ticket sales are successful, they'll offer the same service in 2011.
Spirit's 145-passenger airbus will be scheduled to depart each day from the Atlanta airport at around 10:20 a.m. and Atlanta-bound flights will leave Myrtle Beach International at 5 p.m.
“We just believe with a little over an hour flight and inexpensive fares, we believe that we'll see Atlanta become the largest market for Myrtle Beach and so we believe it could be a huge success,” said Barry Biffle, Chief Marketing Officer for Spirit Airlines
Spirit estimates the round-trip flights will bring 30,000--40,000 tourists to the Myrtle Beach area each year.
