STUCKEY—Community Organization Service Shalom, COSS, provided some holiday cheer for area seniors, hosting a Thanksgiving feast at the end of November. The group, which has been working in the area for the last 15 years, served an estimated 75 seniors at the event, held at the community center on Airport Road in Stuckey.
The menu was stuffed with all sorts of holiday treats, including turkey, dressing, cranberry sauce, ham, yellow rice, dessert and more.
Edd Cunningham, who headed the event, along with fellow COSS officer Brunson Cooper, were busy helping other volunteers dish out a full meal to the group just before the official start of the holiday season. Following in the meal, the group gave out over 30 turkeys, donated by Food Lion, to the seniors present for their own holiday feasts. Cunningham said the event was just one of many put on by the non-profit organization for the benefit of area seniors.
Local politicians from both the town of Stuckey and Williamsburg County joined the seniors in support of the event, including Stuckey Mayor J. David Rose and County Councilman W.B. Wilson.
