Volunteer tax preparers needed in Marlboro County

The Marlboro County Tax Coalition is looking for people who are interested in volunteering to help prepare income tax returns under the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA). This program provides free income tax preparation for low-to moderate-income families.

The training dates for basic tax preparation are from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Marlboro Adult Education Building, 215 Broad St., Bennettsville. The training dates for advanced tax preparation are Jan. 11-15th at the same time and place.

Instruction will be provided by IRS Specialist Barbara Tomlinson for both training sessions.

Those interested are asked to contact Robin Robertson or Keith Brewington at the Community Development Corp. of Marlboro County, 106 E. Market St., Bennettsville, by 2 p.m. Friday. The telephone number is (843) 454-2188.
