Three men were arrested Saturday and charged in connection with a series of reported attempted burglaries in the southern portion of Florence County.
Starting at 5:30 a.m., Saturday, deputies responded to a report of a break-in in progress at a residence on Union School Road.
At 6 a.m., deputies responded to a call near Scranton that two masked gunmen had attempted to enter a residence.
Finally, at 6:15 a.m., deputies responded to the report of a car burglary in progress on Creek Road, according to a release from the Florence County Sheriff’s Office.
When deputies arrived at the last location, the suspects ran into the woods.
Following a brief manhunt, tracking dogs lead deputies to 19-year-old Jimmy Joshua Lee of 4707 N. Old Georgetown Road, Scranton, who was arrested and charged with two counts of attempted burglary and breaking into a motor vehicle, according to the release.
Michael Lee, 24, of 3759 American Ave., Turbeville, was arrested at his home and charged with two counts of attempted burglary, failure to use headlights when necessary, failure to stop for a blue light and breaking into a motor vehicle, according to the release.
Deputies found two rifles and clothing they said were used in the attempted robberies, according to the release.
Brandon Hamlin, 24, of 4707 N. Old Georgetown Road, Scranton, was arrested Saturday afternoon following a tip from a Creek Road resident and charged with misprision of a felony, according to the release.
All three suspects are at the Florence County Detention Center in Effingham awaiting bond hearings.
