This weekend Freestyle Music Park is gearing up to host the last of the nine-event series in the 2009 Fairway Subaru South Carolina Autocross Championship, slated to be held December 5-6, in the Park’s parking lot. Presented by South Carolina Region Sports Car Club of America (SCCA), wheels start turning at 10 a.m. Saturday morning.
“From the very beginning, we’ve been committed to being a part of our community and to hosting events that appeal to everyone. We’re thrilled to work with the South Carolina Region SCCA and look forward to holding future events here at the park,” says Steve Baker, General Manager of Freestyle Music Park. “During the winter months, we’re behind the scenes planning events throughout our 2010 season. Our team has worked very hard throughout our first season and is doing a great job at planning next year.”
On Saturday, the autocross competitions will last throughout the day with a Fun Run scheduled at 4 p.m., should time allow. Online registration closes on December 4. To pre-register, visit http://www.scsportscar.com. Entry fees are $20 for SCCA members and $30 for non-SCCA members (price includes weekend SCCA membership). There is an additional fee for paying the entry fee on the day of the event and not pre-paying online.
“It is EXTREMELY exciting to participate - and that's what we believe the selling point of our sport is: that it is accessible to everyone with a car, even if it's not "race prepared" or even a "high performance" car. This is TRULY grassroots motorsport in its purest form, where just about anyone can come and participate if they wish,” explains Nick Hallman, Regional Executive with South Carolina Region SCCA.
