The Florence Art Trail Gallery in Florence will open its doors on Friday, Dec . 4, to show off Florence School District 1 artists. The citywide exhibit called “Future Talents in the Present Tense” is an effort to show the emerging artists of the next generation.
This past Monday night , art teachers from around the district were busily hanging their student’s artwork at the Art Trail Gallery. The art ranges from pictures to pastels, pencil, watercolor and mixed media.
“This is a chance to put up an exhibit that shows off the best of our students, what they’re doing and learning in art. The gallery usually shows professional artist and we’re very excited to be offered this beautiful setting,” said Florence School District 1 art teacher and Visual Arts Coordinator Laura McFadden. The show features artwork from students ages kindergarten through 12th grade and is the first year that the school district has put on a Winter show.
The exhibit will have special hours , opening on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. In preparation for the student show , the Art Trail Gallery will be closed through Thursday. The Gallery’s regular hours will be changed effective Monday, Dec . 7. The new hours will be 1 to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday . Admission is free.
