The Grand Strand Humane Society is beginning "Dollars for Dogs" a holiday fundraiser that will run now until Dec. 31. The shelter is asking members of the community to send in a dollar to help the homeless and abandoned animals during the holiday season. The goal is to raise $5,000.
"We know the economy has had an effect on every person in the Grand Strand area over the last few years" said Sandy Brown, Executive Director. "The shelter has also felt the lasting effects so we are asking for donations of a dollar or more to provide the necessary food, medicine and treatment our dogs and cats need on a daily basis. Please help us hit our goal of $5,000.00."
All monetary donations can be mailed to or dropped off at the shelter at 3241 Mr. Joe White Avenue, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 11:00am-5:00pm; Friday 11:00am-6:00pm and Saturday 11:00am-4:00pm. Donations can also be made by over the telephone by calling 843-918-4914 or 843-918-4913.
"Every dollar donation is vitally important to assist us in saving lives and finding permanent homes for each of our 200 beloved animals" said Brown.
The Grand Strand Humane Society takes in animals brought in by the City of Myrtle Beach Animal Control as well as those brought into the shelter by members of the community. The Society is committed to providing excellent guest service to its visitors as well as the best care possible for the animals in the community.
