A chicken bog benefit will be held for the Christian Learning Centers (CLC) of Florence County on Thursday at the West Florence fire station on Pineneedles Road in Florence.
Henry Brunson and associates are sponsoring the event. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and supper from 4 to 7 p.m. Baked goods may also be purchased.
Plates are $6 each. Delivery of seven or more plates is available.
CLC is a nonprofit, interdenominational organization that teaches the Bible, with parental permission, to middle school students at an off-campus location. Eleven classes are being offered at Williams, Sneed, Southside and Hannah-Pamplico middle schools.
Rev. Stan Sullivan is chairman of the CLC administrative board of directors.
“These classes offer hope in times of crisis and confusion and enable students to find their God-given worth and purpose in life,” Sullivan said in a press release. “As a result, core values of our society such as family relationships, healthy friendships, work ethics and a sense of personal responsibility are strengthened.
“The Christian Learning Centers seek to glorify God by empowering students to reach their fullest potential. Students are taught values that will lead them to influence their community in a positive way and provide safe venues where they can ask deep, challenging and sensitive questions without fear of censure.”
Sullivan said there is a “critical need” for support if classes are to continue at current levels. Tax-deductible contributions can be sent to Christian Learning Centers, P.O. Box 13071, Florence, SC 29504. Sullivan can be contacted at (843) 662-5921, (843) 229-3410 or via e-mail at stansullivan@earthlink.net.
