Main break leaves Timmonsville schools, residents and businesses without water

»  Comments | Post a Comment

A water main break near the town of Timmonsville disrupted water service for several hours on Monday.

Because of the lack of water in the area, the school district released students early Monday morning.

At 9:30am, students at Johnson Middle and Timmonsville High School were released, followed by students at Brockington Middle at 10:15 a.m.

Teachers were released at 10:30 a.m., followed by administrative staff at 11 a.m. Monday.

Many residents and business owners were also without water for several hours on Monday, and were not able to perform simple tasks such as washing dishes, taking a shower or washing clothing.

Meanwhile other business owners and residents dealt with a lack of water pressure, and though they had some water, it was a very limited supply.

Crews worked to repair the main break throughout Monday morning.

DHEC issued a boil water advisory for Timmonsville residents because of the main break, and urged them to boil water for at least one minute before using it.

School district officials say classes will resume as normal on Tuesday morning.
