Marion County Adult Education congratulates graduates

Graduates from the Marion County Adult Education school toss their caps in the air after a graduation ceremony on June 26 in the Marion County Opera House.

Marion County Adult Education held a graduation ceremony on June 26 in the Marion County Opera House.

The guest speaker was Dr. David Stout, Director of the Office of Adult Education for the South Carolina Department of Education.

Dr. Stout gave a motivating speech encouraging students to continue their education.

Marion County Adult Education graduated 39 students for the 2008-2009 School Year.

Those graduates ranged in age from 17 to 80 years old.

The oldest GED graduate in South Carolina for the 2008 -2009 School Year was a Marion County Adult Education graduate. Four graduates: Jennifer Hilburn, Dominique Hugee, Joseph James and Erma Stroud were inducted into the National Adult Education Honor Society.

The following students participated in the graduation ceremony: Sharee Davis, Brennest Conner, Jennifer Hilburn, Stephanie Gerald, Dominique Hugee, Joseph James, Christy Locklear, Tiffany Sanders, Tabitha Stevens, Erma Stroud, Iris Timmons, Adaya White and Annie Williams.
