An infant and a teen from Bishopville died Thursday as a result of injuries they suffered in a Lee County car crash, S.C. Highway Patrol reports show.

Their identities could not be obtained from the Lee County Coroner’s office by press time.

The crash happened at about 6:55 p.m. at the intersection of Lucknow Road and Old Camden Highway about 5 miles north of Bishopville.

The teen and the infant were backseat passengers in a 1995 Acura driven by a Bishopville resident. One of the deceased passengers was wearing a seat belt and the other was not, according to reports.

That Acura sedan was traveling on Old Camden Highway when it collided with a Plymouth van traveling on Lucknow Road.

The driver of that vehicle was not wearing a seat belt.

The surviving motorists and passenger were taken to a Hartsville hospital for treatment.

The crash remains under investigation by the S.C. Highway Patrol.

Troopers also said the road was blocked for three hours while officers investigated the incident.
