HARTSVILLE -- More than 100 people and their dogs gathered early Saturday morning at Byerly Park in Hartsville for the 2nd annual Bark in the Park 5K Run/Walk.

The event, a fund raiser for the Darlington County Humane Society, raised $5,000 for the group.

The money raised will assist the group with purchasing food, vaccines, spaying and neutering animals and other needed supplies.

Pets are available for adoption through the Darlington County Humane Society during the shelters business hours -- 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The shelter is closed Wednesday and Sunday.

The shelter is located 1 mile west of the Darlington Raceway on Bobo Newsome Highway in Darlington.
