Local Food Lion store helps quench Swamp Fox teams' thirst

Ray Griffin, Food Lion assistant manager, Marion High School Athletic Director Tim Perkins,Food Lion employee and former Swamp Fox athlete Jarrott Hooks, Swamp Fox football coach Bryan Carfley and Marion High School Principal Alfred McFadden are fans of a new campaign that will help donate drinks for Marion High School athletic programs.

Food Lion stores across the region have implemented sports drink donation centers for student athletes for the 2009-2010 school year.

According to Ray Griffin, Marion Food Lion assistant manager, the program was started by area stores as a way to support school athletics through local and community member donations.

The donation sites will continue throughout the school year for all school athletic programs in the area

“The donation is greatly appreciated. We work hard to ensure the athletes do not overheat in this hot weather and these drinks will certainly help us take care of the players,” Marion School District One Athletic Director Tim Perkins said.
