Police: robbery suspect caught while walking down street naked

»  Comments | Post a Comment

A strong armed robbery suspect was picked up by police after he was seen walking along a road naked and covered in feces, Bennettsville Police Sgt. Larry Turner said.

Toney Lowe, 21, of 311 Redbud St. in Bennettsville is charged with disorderly conduct and strong armed robbery, Turner said.

The suspect was wanted in connection with a strong armed robbery that happened Thursday at the Bennettsville Hotel. Two people were using their laptops in a vehicle parked outside the hotel when they saw the suspect walk by. The suspect returned with his face covered and demanded money. The victims told him they didn't have any money, so he instead took their computers, Turner said.

The suspect was spotted Saturday near a highway bypass in Bennettsville “totally nude and covered in feces,” Turner said.

Lowe remains in custody at the Marlboro County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing before a circuit court judge because he also has a general sessions court bench warrant.
