A suspect in the December robbery of a Lake City restaurant was convicted Wednesday afternoon of all charges he faced in connection with the case, 12th Circuit Solicitor Ed Clements III said.
Larry Bradley Brayboy, 26, of 122 Williamsburg Ave., Lake City, was arrested Jan. 3 and charged with armed robbery, kidnapping and assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.
Circuit Court Judge Thomas Russo sentenced Brayboy to 18 years for the robbery charge, 18 years for the kidnapping charge, and 10 years for the assault charge. The sentences will run concurrently, so Brayboy will serve 18 years but without parole, Clements said,
Armed robbery and kidnapping are considered “violent and most serious offenses and so there is no parole on those,” Clements said.
Assistant 12th Circuit Solicitor Fitzlee McEachin did a “fantastic job,” prosecuting the case, Clements said.
The crime happened about 10:30 p.m. Dec. 6 when three men entered Pizza Hut through a door that had been left open by restaurant employees who were standing outside. Once inside, the suspects demanded money and assaulted two of the victims, Lake City Police Chief Billy Brown said in a previous interview. One of the employees standing outside the building saw what was going on inside the restaurant and called police.
Robin John Turner, 28, of 723 Gibson St., Marion, and Quennell Ashton Brown, 25, of 2427 Sarah Kennedy Road, Effingham, were arrested after a brief foot chase, Brown said. They face the same charges as Brayboy.
Two victims were taken to a local hospital for treatment and released.
