City of Mullins Mayor Pam Lee along with local pastors is inviting members of the community to take part in a citywide “Back to Church Sunday” on Sept. 13.
Lee signed a proclamation at Mullins First Baptist Church this past Tuesday to encourage all church members to reach out to friends and family members.
Rev. Jim Kirkland, Rev. Kem Thomas, Rev. Jason Brewer, Rev. Mack T. Hines and C.B Turner all came out in support of the national initiative.
Clemson University football team Chaplin Tony Eubanks will be the guest speaker at the community worship service that evening at the Mullins High School football field.
“Our emphasis is for people to go to church and attend our community worship service,” Rev. Kirkland said.
“I’m thankful our elected officials are supporting the community of faith,” he said.
“It reiterates the importance of what we’re doing and our goal is to bring the people together,” Rev. Turner said.
“It’s wonderful to be associated in a community where the government is involved in this activity,” Rev. Thomas said.
“One of the reasons why I love this town is because of the community events associated with the local churches,” Rev. Brewer said.
“It’s the spirit of cooperation too, where we’re promoting all churches for the common good of the community,” Rev. Turner said.
The pastors said most individuals are associated with churches in the area and they just want to promote the opportunity to welcome some back.
