A Darlington man is dead after a single car accident in Florence early Sunday morning.
Florence County coroner Bubba Matthews says the victim was 37-year-old Darrick Staggers of Howle Street. According to the State Highway Patrol, Staggers was driving his 2000 Saturn west on McIver Road just after 1 a.m. Sunday morning when the accident happened.
Authorities say he veered off the right side of the road, swerved back across the road and hit a tree on the left side of the road.
Staggers died from injuries sustained in the crash. He was not wearing a seat belt. No one else was in the car at the time of the accident.
