Carolina Forest traffic checkpoint nets 7 arrests

HORRY COUNTY - The 15th Judicial Circuit Law Enforcement Network held a checkpoint in Carolina Forest on River Oaks Drive Friday night, between 8 p.m. and midnight.

According to Sgt. John Bertang, Traffic Supervisor with the Myrtle Beach Police Department, 34 officers from 14 different agencies participated in the checkpoint.

The checkpoint results were as follows:

  • 19 Drivers License violations

  • 6 Open Containers

  • 6 Insurance violations

  • 6 Vehicles Towed

  • 5 Vehicle License Violations

  • 4 Equipment Violations

  • 2 Driving Under Suspension

  • 1 Possession of Marijuana

A total of 43 citations were issued and officers made 7 arrests.

Bertang says the group will hold is "Hands Across the Border" checkpoint event on September 4 along the Noth Carolina state line.
