Georgetown County Sheriff’s Investigators arrested an Andrews man for having sex with a minor and exposing the minor to HIV.
According to a press release, Phillip Wayne Parsons, 30, of 316 Barnes Road in Andrews was arrested yesterday afternoon for criminal sexual conduct with a minor, lewd act on a minor and exposing another to HIV.
Georgetown County Sheriff’s Investigators began their investigation Wednesday morning when they received information from a caller that requested to remain anonymous.
Investigators contacted the 14-year-old victim and his parents for an interview to corroborate the caller’s information. At the conclusion of the interview, sheriff’s investigators were able to obtain arrest warrants on Parsons.
During the investigation, sheriff’s investigators found that Parsons has been an acquaintance of the victim for approximately one and a half years and in the past several months these alleged illegal sexual acts were performed.
Parsons has been registering as a sex offender in Georgetown County since December 1, 2005 for a conviction of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor from January 1, 1995.
Since he has been registering in Georgetown County, he has not failed to register every six months as required by state law and when Georgetown County Sheriff’s Deputies have conducted address verifications every six months all information provided by Parsons has been found to be accurate.
Parsons is currently being held at the Georgetown County Detention Center under a $50,000.00 cash/surety bond.
