A Florence man has been arrested amid accusations he committed lewd acts on a 6-year-old during the course of a year, according to a press release from the Florence County Sheriff’s Office.
Michael Brian Lance, 33, of 711 N. Williston Road, was arrested Tuesday afternoon and charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor (victim under 11 years of age) and committing a lewd act on a child younger than 16, Florence County Detention Center booking reports show.
Under state law, criminal sexual conduct with a minor is a felony punishable by a mandatory minimum sentence of 25 years to life in prison. Committing a lewd act on a minor is a felony punishable by a fine in the discretion of the court or imprisonment for not more than 15 years, or both.
Lance remains in custody at the jail in Effingham awaiting a bond hearing.
