Free car seat check to be offered in Florence

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Safe Kids Florence, led by McLeod Health, will host a free car seat check from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the Florence Kohl’s parking lot, 3041 W. Radio Drive.

Safe Kids offers a car seat check the third Thursday of each month at this same time and location. Each car seat technician follows a child passenger safety checklist of car seat qualifications to ensure the safety of children. Car seats will be available for sale at a discounted price.

Certified car seat technicians will be on site checking proper installation of car seats, correcting those in need, and educating caregivers on proper car seat installation and use. Participants must have both car seat and child present. Expecting parents are asked to bring car seat.

Safe Kids Florence also will announce the receipt of a $30,641 grant awarded by Kohl’s Cares for Kids during a press conference at 3:30 p.m. that day. The grant will continue to fund the Third Thursday with Kohl’s Safe Seats Child Safety Seat Check program, as well as free child safety seats to those in need while supplies last. It also will also fund quarterly bicycle rodeos at Kohl’s to teach children wheel safety and provide free helmets to children while supplies last.
