Surfside Beach mayor weighs in on the WBTW/TWC controversy

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Many Time Warner customers have expressed concern over the company’s decision to take WBTW News13 off of some cable systems, and now the mayor of Surfside Beach is speaking out about the issue.

Mayor Allen Deaton says it’s critical to have WBTW on-air in the area, providing local news, weather and sports as it has for so many years.

“I know how important it is for us to have local coverage, and Channel 13 has done a great job with that as far as the political arena, sports, local news, and thinks like that nature,” Deaton says.

He says, especially with Surfside Beach residents living along the Carolina coast, it’s critical to have the news outlet available to provide information during severe weather.

News13 will continue keeping the public updated on developments to this situation.
