A Marlboro County man on probation for involuntary manslaughter in the shooting death of his son has had his probation revoked.
Richard McDowell, 60, had his full probation revoked and will serve about two and a half years in jail, according to a S.C. Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services official.
The revocation came Thursday morning during hearing following his Aug. 3 arrest for driving under the influence, driving under suspension and an open container violation in Darlington County, officials said.
McDowell of 232 S.C. East, turned himself in to probation officers in Marlboro County on Saturday.
Last month, McDowell pleaded guilty in connection with the shooting death of his son Richard Anthony McDowell, 30, at a home on S.C. 34 in Marlboro County in the Oak Grove community in March 2008. Investigators said an argument escalated and led to the shooting.
McDowell was sentenced to four years in prison, suspended to 18 months, and received credit for the time he served in jail awaiting his trial.
