Steinway artist and Las Vegas pianist David Osborne, known as the Pianist to the Presidents, is coming to Hartsville on Sept. 16 to give a benefit concert with proceeds going to the Coker College’s Annual Scholarship Fund and the Prestwood Country Club Renovation Fund. Coker College will present “A Night to Remember” at 7 p.m. in the Watson Theater of the Elizabeth Boatwright Coker Performing Arts Center.
Osborne has performed at The White House for Presidents Carter, Bush, Reagan and Clinton. He is also the pianist at the Bellagio Hotel and Casino. Osborne’s musical repertoire includes romantic, classical, jazz, inspirational and Broadway standards. His 22 CDs on the Northstar Music label have sold more than five million copies and he is considered the country’s leading romantic piano recording artist. “Simply Romantic,” his latest recording, is available at Hallmark Gold Crown Stores.
At the Bellagio, Osborne is a main attraction at the Petrossian Bar and The Baccarat Bar. Previously he was a fixture at Caesar’s Palace on the Vegas Strip for 12 years. Osborne has ties to Hartsville through a friendship with local accountant Tommy Goodson.
“David is an extremely talented and exciting performer,” Goodson said. “As one of the top attractions in Las Vegas, he really knows how to entertain a crowd. This concert will be a truly memorable event for everyone there.”
Osborne tours throughout the United States and has performed for a wide range of international dignitaries and celebrities. His recent concerts include the Steinway and Sons International Convention in Beverly Hills and on the Steinway and Sons Legendary Instruments of the Immortals Tour where he played on pianos belonging to Gershwin, Van Cliburn and Horowitz.
