A Blenheim man who pleaded guilty in July to involuntary manslaughter in the shooting death of his son is back in jail.
Richard McDowell, 60, of 232 S.C. East was arrested Aug. 3 and is charged with driving under the influence, driving under suspension and an open container violation, Darlington County County Detention Center booking reports show.
Following his release from the Darlington jail, McDowell turned himself in to probation officers in Marlboro County on Saturday.
He is scheduled to appear before a judge Tuesday afternoon for a bond hearing on the probation violation.
Last month, McDowell pleaded guilty in connection with the shooting death of his son Richard Anthony McDowell, 30, at a home on S.C. 34 in Marlboro County in the Oak Grove community in March 2008. Investigators said an argument escalated and led to the shooting.
McDowell was sentenced to four years in prison, suspended to 18 months, and received credit for the time he served in jail awaiting his trial.
