No one was seriously injured when a bicycle struck a Marion County sheriff’s deputy’s vehicle Sunday night, Marion County Sheriff Mark Richardson said.

It happened at Bluff Road and the U.S. 501 Bypass in Marion County. A person riding a bicycle struck the passenger’s side door of the deputy’s vehicle while it was traveling down U.S. 501, Richardson said.

The cyclist was taken to an area hospital where he was treated for a minor head injury and released Sunday night, the sheriff said.

The S.C. Highway Patrol investigated the incident.
