Man charged with felony DUI in deputy's death back in jail

A Patrick man charged with felony driving under the influence in connection with the death of a Chesterfield County sheriff’s deputy is back in jail after a judge issued a bench warrant for his arrest Monday, Chesterfield County Sheriff Sam Parker said.

Michael Chad Lambert, 33, is charged in connection with the July 23, 2008, death of Sgt. Darryl Quick about four miles outside McBee.

Lambert asked for permission to leave the county to attend a divorce hearing in Alabama, Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Maj. James Dixon said. A hearing was scheduled for Monday, but Lambert didn’t show up, Parker said.

Lambert’s mother showed up at the hearing instead and backed out of his bail, which resulted in 4th Circuit Court Judge Paul Burch issuing a bench warrant for Lambert’s arrest, Parker said.

Lambert was arrested at home and is in custody at the Chesterfield County Detention Center.
