The Horry County Public Safety Committee will hold a public hearing for those properties that would like to be established as a Fireworks Prohibited Zone and extend that zone onto public property.

According to a press release, the hearing is scheduled for Monday, August 24, at 9 a.m. in the Horry County Government & Justice Center, second floor County Council’s Conference Room, on 2nd Avenue in Conway.

The owner, lessee or managing authority must file a Discharge for Fireworks Prohibited Agreement with the Horry County Public Safety Division and an Application for Extension of Fireworks Prohibited Zone prior to the hearing date.

During the public hearing, live testimony must be given from interested persons and a written decision will be issued.

If approved, the owner, lessee or managing authority must post at least two signs on their property, which will be issued at the public hearing.

The costs of the signs are $17.00 each (cash or money order only).

For more information on this process and to receive a copy of the applications, please log onto Horry County’s website at www.horrycounty.org.

Go to the top of the home page and click on Public Safety, from the drop down box click on Fireworks Regulations.

Property owners may also call the Horry County Public Safety Division at 915-5400 to receive the information by fax or mail.
