FLORENCE – Voters and public officials from Johnsonville and Pamplico joined about 400 citizens for a Tax Day Tea party in Florence. These were held across the United States, where voters turned out to oppose wasteful spending and higher taxes.
Florence County was no exception, and on Wednesday, April 15 citizens ascended the steps of the City-County Complex for an old fashioned tea party. The demonstration was to commemorate the spirit of the original Boston Tea Party held in 1700s in protest of unfair taxes and pork barrel spending. The tea party was orchestrated as a means for the voters to oppose wasteful spending, higher taxation, and increased government regulations.
