An Effingham man died after the tree he was cutting fell on him late Wednesday morning, Darlington County Coroner Todd Hardee said in a press release.
Nathaniel McDonald, 67, of McDonalds Tree Service, died about 11:30 a.m., Hardee said.
The incident occurred in Hartsville, he said.
Athough the death was accidental, it remains under investigation by the coroner’s office and the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office, Hardee said.
