Police arrest suspect in stabbing at Surfside Beach bar

SURFSIDE BEACH - A man was awaiting a bond hearing Friday morning after Horry County police charged him with assault and battery with intent to kill in connection with a stabbing at a bar near Sufrside Beach.

According to a news release, police arrested 27-year-old Russell Coleman Harris after officers responded to the Island Bar and Grill on Glenns Bay Road around 2 a.m. Friday morning.

According to the release, the victim suffered a stab wound to his shoulder during a fight with Harris. Paramedics took him to Waccamaw Hospital for treatment.

Harris was being held at J. Reuben Long Detention Center pending the bond hearing before a magistrate.
