Kendra Loggie, owner and operator of the Fun in the Sun tanning salon on East Goldbold Street, Marion, said she has more than 10 years experience in business.
Armed with that experience, she has opened a new business and joined the Marion Chamber of Commerce. On Tuesday morning, chamber members and Marion Mayor Bobby Gerald welcomed Fun in the Sun to the local business community with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
“On behalf of the City of Marion I’d like to welcome you here, and I hope you have a very successful venture, “ Gerald said in his remarks during the rainy ribbon cutting, joking that perhaps, “instead of ‘Fun in the Sun,’ it should be fun in the rain.” Loggie said the salon has been open for a year and a half but that she didn’t join the Chamber of Commerce until she built a new addition to her salon, a nail technician station.
“Right now I want spread the word that we’re doing manicures and pedicures here,” she said. Jennifer Hardwick is now part of the staff, serving as a nail technician. The two went to school together at Cura Cosmetology School in Florence.
Loggie’s experience stems from working next door in her parents Richard and Karen Woodhouse’s Cash Doctor Cash Advance Center since 1999. Kenyetta Hyman, who manages the Cash Doctor, attended the ceremony. Loggie’s expectation, she said, is to be working steady. She said she is ready to welcome new customers.
