»  Comments | Post a Comment

A man has surrendered to investigators in connection with a shooting during an apparent “free-for-all” at a lounge, Dillon County Sheriff’s Sgt. DeWitt Coleman said.

Jerrod McDougal, 30, of 4018 Sinclair Road in Minturn was arrested Monday and faces one count of assault and battery with intent to kill, Coleman said.

The shooting happened about 2:40 a.m. Sunday at Johnny’s Lounge, on S.C. 57 just south of Dillon city limits, Coleman said.

The victim has been treated for a gunshot wound to the side of his abdomen, which wasn’t a life-threatening injury, Coleman said.

Another man who was at the lounge has been treated for a cut on the back of his neck, but authorities have made no arrests in connection with that assault.

Deputies continue to investigate what led to the fighting, Coleman said.

Anyone with additional information about the incident is asked to call the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office at (843) 774-1432 or CrimeStoppers of the Pee Dee at (843) 667-TIPS (8477). Callers need not reveal their identities.
