Gov. Mark Sanford has proclaimed this week as Coker College Centennial Week.
"Coker College is celebrating 100 years of being a vital educational and cultural asset to the Palmetto State." said Sanford.
According to a press release, Coker College began in 1894 as Welsh Neck High School when Major James Lide Coker worked to bring about the chartering of a private academy.
