Three businesses in Conway were caught by undercover police trying to sell alcohol to an underage buyer, as part of a sting last Friday.
Conway and Coastal Carolina University police officers, along with agents with the 15th Circuit Solicitors Office Drug Enforcement Unit, and the State Law Enforcement Division conducted the operation at 21 locations across the area in and around Conway and the campus of CCU.
During the event, officers sent in an undercover minor to attempt to buy alcohol from the stores.
Three stores actually sold to the underage buyer, including Wilco To Go, 1911 Highway 544; Scotchman #225, 4101 Postal Way; and Scotchman #123, Renee Drive.
Officers issued three citations for sale of beer to a person under 21 and one citation for consumption of beer by a person under 21.
The weekend operation also extended into patrols of stores and restaurants around Conway leading up to and during Saturday night's Chanticleer football game against Towson State. During the tailgating time and after the game, officers made one arrest and issued three citations for underage alcohol consumption.
