Just a comment on the upcoming election for Florence County sheriff — Sheriff Boone’s signs say, “A Good Man, A Great Sheriff.” Well, they got that right.
For the three year period, January 2005 through January 2008, a total of 5,342 arrests were made in Florence County by the combined forces of the DEA/Task Force, P.A.C.E. Team, FBI Task Force and normal Sheriff’s Patrol for Drugs/ Weapons violations under the leadership of Sheriff Kenney Boone. Also, another 878 arrests were made during this three-year period in coordination with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshall Service’s Fugitive Task Force. These 6,200 arrests are the reason we can all go out and enjoy the many things offered by our city and county. This is called freedom.
This freedom doesn’t come without a cost.
Sheriff Boone and his dedicated staff work tirelessly to insure that Florence County is safe for honest, hardworking people.
The Sheriff’s Department keeps us safe in a professional and pleasant manner that intelligent people appreciate. These men and women are the best, and they are lead by the best.
My contact with the department centers primarily around the SRO (School Resource Officer) program in effect in Florence County schools.
These men and women are specially trained to not only confront those afoul of the law, but to counsel those who might go astray if they didn’t have an adult friend to take the time to listen to them. Sheriff Boone is an ardent supporter of the SRO program in our schools.
We all remember the event last spring that occurred when an escaped felon was tracked down with the leadership of Sheriff Boone. Imagine a weaker or less motivated man at the helm.
OK, you thought about it, now go out and vote with truth in your heart.
