Arrest made in Hartsville schools bomb threat

»  Comments | Post a Comment

A juvenile was arrested after police said he called in a bomb threat to Hartsville High and Middle schools Tuesday, Hartsville Police Chief Tim Kemp said.

Kemp isn’t releasing any more information about the suspect, who was arrested Tuesday, because of his age, but said more arrests are expected in connection with the threat.

Investigators think several people encouraged the suspect to make the call; therefore, Kemp said, those people will likely face conspiracy charges.

Police also are investigating a second bomb threat at Hartsville High School on Wednesday. No arrests have been made in that case, Kemp said.

Parents were notified of each incident through the schools phone notification system and the school’s e-mail system, according to a press release issued Wednesday by Audrey Childers, Darlington County School District’s public information officer.

Parents with concerns or questions are asked to call Childers at (843) 398-5100.
