When Vietnam War veterans Lou Krieger and Patrick Burke get together, the war stories seem to come from all sides.
That should be the case when the pair take two busses of veterans from all wars on a trip this Veteran's Day weekend to Washington, D.C. The group will visit memorials including the National World War II Memorial, The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, the Korean War Memorial, the Iwo Jima Memorial, and the Tomb Of The Unkown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery.
The trip happens November 8 and 9.
The group will have special ceremonies at each site, much like last year's trip that Krieger helped organize, that included about 120 World War II veterans.
"Last year, we did (services) only at the World War II memorial," said Kreiger. "We're going to have a candlelight procession, starting at the World War II memorial, down to the Korean War memorial, and then over to the Vietnam veterans wall," he said.
The trip is still open to anyone who wants to attend.
The cost is $200 per person, and for that, attendees get one night's stay in a hotel in Washington, D.C., bus transportation, breakfast on the drive there, dinner in Washington, D.C. and lunch the next day.
Anyone can go, and you have until Monday, September 29th to sign up.
For veterans like Burke, visiting the Vietnam veterans wall is an emotional experience.
"I break down a little bit," he said. "It brings back memories of the guys."
