Pet owners in Myrtle Beach can rest assured--if there's a fire and their pets are stuck inside, city firefighters have a new tool to help little Fido or Milo get out safely.
Representatives with Coastal PAWS Cat Club presented Myrtle Beach firefighters with two complete sets--six masks--of pet masks designed to fit over a the nose and mouth of a dog or a cat.
The masks are connected to oxygen tanks, hopefully providing clean air for the pet to breathe during a fire rescue situation.
"If your job is search and rescue, and if you find a cat or a dog during your search, then you're going to bring it out," said Lieutenant Sam Vest with the Myrtle Beach Fire Department.
"I have a cat and a dalmatian, and it would mean a lot to me if somebody could get them out and save them," Lt. Vest said.
