Parts of Florence County received a facelift Friday thanks to the generous help of more than 350 volunteers.
The work was done as part of the United Way’s Day of Caring, which is an effort to give volunteer time to local projects, according to a press release.
Around 28 companies donated their time and efforts to work on various projects, including doing things like painting, cleaning, and construction.
“It is an amazing feeling to know that there are people in the community who are willing to support us and do the things that we can’t do on our own. With a tight budget, our resources and our priorities are always on our students and our educational materials,” said Christina Lawson, the Executive Director of the Florence Area Literacy Council. Volunteers painted two rooms at the agency’s South Dargan Street location on Friday.
The event lasted from 8:30 AM until 4 PM.
