Constitution Day observed at Francis Marion

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Francis Marion University will observe Constitution Day today with a free presentation by Larry Nelson, FMU’s A.R. Avent professor of history and chairman of the history department.

The program will begin at 3:45 p.m. in the Lee Nursing Building’s Thomason Auditorium.

Constitution Day honors the signing of the Constitution on Sept. 17, 1787. U.S. Sen. Robert C. Byrd of West Virginia inserted language into the 2005 federal spending bill that requires all educational institutions that receive federal funds from any agency to have programming for Constitution Day.
