Chemical explosion at the 3-V plant in Georgetown

A chemical explosion at the 3-V plant in Georgetown sent one person to the hospital Thursday night.

The plant is located off of Pennyroyal road in Georgetown near the Sampit River.

Georgetown fire chief, Mack Reed says the explosion was a chemical reaction that produced mostly smoke and heat.

The explosion shut down a nearby highway for a short time but the highway is now reopened.

There are reports that the person taken to the hospital has severe burns.

No word on the victims identity.
