A “Healing Oils of the Bible” class, based on David Stewart’s book and video, will be offered Saturday in Florence.
Marsha Harper is the class facilitator. Those attending must bring a Bible so they may refer to passages that mention the oils.
“This is a new concept that has been developed, is working well and is loads of fun,” Harper said. “It is a scriptural oils program that provides a unique and valuable service to our communities. It appeals to a whole segment of society who might otherwise never come into contact with the concept of healing oils.”
Harper said the program offers a “great opportunity” for people to learn of the wonderful healing miracles possible through essential oils.
“The primary purpose of the program is public education on the topic of Healing Oils of the Bible,” she said. “Most people do not know the important role that essential oils played in the lives of biblical people, nor do they know about the healing power of the oils.”
Harper said this is a good program to offer to churches and schools. It also can be presented in living rooms, libraries and other meeting places.
It also can be used as an effective way to interest people in learning more about the benefits of the oils and using them on themselves and their families.
“During the program, we pass around the bottles of oils as we talk and take turns reading the appropriate scriptures from the Bible,” she said. “The Bible mentions oils of joy, gladness or rejoicing in Isaiah 61:3, Psalms 45: 7-8, Proverbs 27:9 and Hebrews 1:9. We finish up with Spikenard, which is mentioned seven times and was the last oil received by Christ before going to the cross.”
Harper said it has been her experience that people are so excited and happy they don’t want to leave after more than a dozen of the spiritually uplifting oils have been passed around.
“One lady came with a splitting headache and by the time we had passed the first two or three oils around, she was headache free and felt great,” she said. “Six months after we did one program, a lady who had attended reported that her allergies had disappeared during the program that very night and that she had not needed her allergy medications ever since.”
Harper said it also is common for those suffering from arthritis pain to receive relief as the oils are passed around.
“The program normally takes 2½ hours,” she said. “But we allow plenty of time at the end for people to linger and ask questions and gain more information about the oils and share testimonies of what and how the oils have made a change in their lives.”
