The suspect ran up from behind the woman at 11:15 p.m. Saturday while she was walking on East Washington Street. He stuck a gun in her face and took her purse, Kemp said.

The woman was unharmed, Kemp said.

The suspect is described as a 6-foot, 180-pound black man. He was last seen wearing a white shirt with different designs on it and black shorts during the crime, Kemp said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the police department at (843) 383-3013 or Crime Stoppers of the Pee Dee at (843) 667-TIPS (8477) or (866) 369-TIPS (8477). Callers need not reveal their identities.
