Don’t think for yourself — just follow party lines. What a lot of drivel from writer Kenneth M. Curran. (Letter to the Editor, Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008). OK, you want to compare leaders.
Let’s look at the real record. Barack Obama has served in the Senate two years, most of which was to run for president. What qualifications does he have?
His wife is a woman who has a wealthy background. She says that she and Barrack are just trying to get by. What is their net worth? All this drivel about him fighting for the African-American dream is “BS,” too. Check his real record.
Obama has stated that he wants your tax dollars to go to the World Bank to help other countries get their country standards raised. We already send money to almost any country that wants it. What Obama wants to do is give your money to other support programs. Isn’t welfare enough? don’t we pay enough to that aid program.
Obama wants to stop the flow of jobs overseas, but wasn’t it again a Clinton who signed NAFTA, allowing jobs to Mexico?
It may not be the most important thing to serve in the military, to support your country, to say the pledge of allegiance, for fear of offending other countries, but it is what Obama has said. At least John McCain served his country. Clinton and Obama never did one day in the service of this country. Maybe in this day and age, serving America is no longer needed to be president.
I have never voted party lines. I have crossed one way or the other in what I thought was the best man. But check your facts at the door. Don’t let them get in the way of your thoughts.
There has been a Democratic Congress for two years. Where was all this crying about energy last year? Where was the anti-Bush crowd when Congress bullies pork barrel projects on the back of veterans?
Do not let this country down. Vote for the person who will lead, not stumble. You are right about one thing.
There is too much at stake to play any more games with our nation.
