Horry County Emergency Management officials opened the Emergency Operations Center Wednesday morning, bringing together dozens of personnel from all over the county who will work together leading up to and during Tropical Storm Hanna's projected landfall as a possible hurricane on the Grand Strand.
"It's a frustrating storm at times," said county spokeswoman Lisa Bourcier. "If an evacuation would be ordered, there would be plenty of time to make those decisions."
Emergency Management officials pour over National Hurricane Center advisories, and then conference with other state leaders before they come out and brief the E.O.C.
"Right now, we just want to bring all of the parties involved that's normally in the process, and keep them up to date, and make sure all of our checklists are done," said Bourcier.
The county also sent workers out to top off all generators at county-owned facilities in the event of mass power outages.
The E.O.C. will not be fully staffed between 5:00 p.m. Wednesday and 9:00 a.m. Thursday, but Bourcier said it will be open again and fully-staff on Thursday, subject to any major forecast changes.
